CSTP Goal
My initial CSTP goal was centered around developing an environment where students are active participants in goal setting and monitoring. I also wanted to ensure that students understand their goals and what they need to do to meet them. I have focused my attention on goal setting for reading this year and have been intentional in talking with students about their reading levels. We have conversations about where they are, where they need to be, and specific strategies they need to use to get there.
How I've Grown 
The area that I found I grew the most this year is in Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning. For the first time in my teaching career I had the priceless luxury of teaching the same grade 2 years in a row, which I feel helped me improve in this area. I felt more comfortable with the subject matter I was teaching and was therefore able to explore different strategies, methods, and activities for delivering the material. I was also able to enjoy myself more and focus important things like joy factor and engaging all students in learning.
- My current professional goal is to get my master’s degree in reading instruction. I love teaching lower grades and I think that this degree will help me to better teach reading with my students.

To remain connected I collaborate regularly with my peers and attend professional development workshops. I am also a member of different social media groups where I can talk to and connect with other teachers.

To stay passionate about teaching I try to consciously think about the things that make me happy when I teach. I try to reflect on my day, each day, and appreciate any successes, funny things my kiddos said, goals we achieved, or personal triumphs. For me, sharing these things with others makes me remember why I do what I do!

My Advice for New Teachers...
Be 100% sure that deep down into your core, with all of your heart and soul, teaching is your passion.
It is hard, it can be frustrating. But if it’s truly your passion it will be rewarding, fulfilling, and more wonderful that you ever imagined!
